Well, what an amazing day today has been. We talked to so many people, shared stories and celebrated decent cooking on a very restricted budget. We talked about austerity and how it hurt local families. We raised money for the food bank with our pay it forward concept.

People were especially interested in Jack Munroe’s Cooking on Bootstrap and A Girl called Jack, which outlined her personal battles with Austerity, homelessness with a young child and how she got ‘her life back’ and how she channelled her creativity into budget cooking.

We are tired, but we made new friends. We have newly signed members and it’s been a truly wonderful experience. It was a pleasure to cook but next time we make much more cake … #dayOfAction

Debbie Bannigan enjoyed the day, having the opportunity to engage in some great chats about issues surrounding food poverty and issues of Hunger in rugby
