Alison Livesey for Coton Park (Borough 2021)

Alison Livesey, Borough Council candidate for Coton Park, is passionate about the environment: She has brilliant ideas for developing community allotments and how these can help with everything from improved mental health to providing a food source for people who need it.

Alison wants to see a secondary school in the Ward.  She says, “It’s ridiculous that so many children are being shipped out to the other side of Rugby, because the closest schools are over-subscribed.  The site was identified years ago – where is the school?”

In her day job, Alison works for the welfare of people who are finding life difficult.
She has seen the decimation of mental health, the National Health Service and social care services under the Tories and this has fired up her determination to fight for fairness in her role as a councillor.

Originally from the Blyth, Alison has lived in Rugby for 16 years. She was Chair of Governors at Newbold Riverside Primary School, overseeing the transition to Academy status as Riverside Academy, also a parent governor representative of the Warwickshire County Council Children and Families Scrutiny Committee. She has three daughters, all of whom
went to schools in Rugby (Newbold Riverside and Avon Valley), and she now works as a project manager for a training company based in Coventry.

Interested in education, the environment, public transport and welfare reform, she sees the impacts of the Government’s welfare policies and how they drive people into poverty every day. She is also concerned about the excessive number of lorries in Rugby as a whole, and the worsening of congestion and air quality as well as road safety.

She is worried about the lack of a secondary school on the north side of Rugby and the adverse impact that has on young people and parents. She is very keen to work with local communities to improve amenities for children and young people and to create a safer and more cohesive place to live for everyone.
