Black path bridge safety:
To update you the joint funding Bid to the Home Office Safer Streets Funding was finally confirmed in October.
The Black Path and the Bridge were identified as a priority area for this funding.
A site assessment has been made and there will be two cameras installed, one covering the bridge and one further down the Black Path.
These will be multi-lensed cameras so will be able to view in both directions.
The plan is also to install lighting along the underside of the zig-zag bridge.
The funding needs to be spent by April so timelines with the project are tight but the cameras and additional lighting columns required have been ordered and the lighting is in progress. Both the cameras and lighting should be installed by the end of March
Additionally, confirmation via the Police Inspector in response to resident concerns has been given for extra patrols by police.
This has been led by WCC and RBC and the Police. There is lots of hard work being done by all our partners in this project to get this across the line.
Ram Srivastava, “I am particularly happy about the improved safety measures.  I want to thank the police, RBC and WCC for the work they have done.  The new lights and CCTV will mean people will feel safer walking at night and the extra patrols are welcome too.”
CCTV, extra police and safety lighting to be installed at the Black Path railway bridge.
