VOTE LABOUR ON 14 DECEMBER

In the May 2023 Council elections, Labour came a close second place behind the Conservatives in Dunsmore.

Thanks to the sudden resignations of two Conservative Councillors there are now by-elections on the 14th of December.

Labour has consistently led the fight against Conservative plans to launch a new Local Plan. We believe that services for existing residents such as better health, education, leisure and social care must be improved as the priority before anything else.

The last 20 years has seen Rugby witness the highest rates of house building and warehouse development in the Midlands.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH – IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE

  • For reasons unknown the local Conservative Party are determined to open up Rugby’s remaining countryside for developers to promote new sites for construction. They are doing this by launching into a new Local Plan process at exactly the time when other Councils across the country are stopping any new Plans (because the government is saying the whole planning process is about to change)
  • At the recent October Full Council meeting of Rugby Borough Council, the Labour Party, working with the Liberal Democrats, amended the proposal so that the consultation period is now longer, and the process can potentially be paused
  • This means there is an opportunity for better strategies for housing and employment in the Borough to be developed, and the Council can pursue more active protection of the Green Belt to make it a real asset for all of us
