About Jonathan Vickers – Labour Candidate for Revel and Binley Woods:

I have lived in Rugby for over forty years. I went to school here, and now my two children attend schools in the town. I’ve seen a Tory-run council in the Borough where we see more and more people sleeping rough in shop doorways, the numbers reliant on food banks is increasing, where we’re losing services, children’s centre are closing down, there’s not enough affordable housing and too many of our elected councillors are simply not doing enough about it. If elected, I would fight to help those struggling with the cost of living crisis. I will stand up for rural communities, and strive to protect our beautiful countryside. Rugby should be a town that we’re proud of, and with the right people in council I believe it can be.

Rural areas like Revel and Binley Woods have faced particular problems. Tory austerity has weakened the foundations of rural communities, with infrastructure crumbling and public services stretched to breaking point. We’ve seen cuts to bus services, and access to health services reduced. A vote for Labour is a vote to get our community back on the road to recovery.
