Labour Lives Episode 1: Dr Eric Wood, OBE

Welcome to the Labour Lives podcast, which is essentially an opportunity for me to capture my conversations with local Labour activists, to explore their background in politics in a way that’s less rushed, more longform.

Before his living room was once more turned into a den for more grandparental adventures, I sat down with Dr Eric Wood, OBE. You’ll hear his own experiences of education as a student and teacher, but in our hour’s conversation we didn’t really manage to touch the sides of a career that includes serving as Warwickshire’s County Education Officer and indeed acting Chief Executive, nor his subsequent role as Chief Executive of the Warwickshire Police Authority.

What I hope does come across, and it’s the reason I wanted to begin these Labour Lives podcasts with Eric, is a breadth of understanding and a level of insight that we’re blessed to have in our local Labour Party. His enthusiasm, passion and commitment spur others to engage with the complex issues we face and to remain hopeful of a fairer and more just society.
