A long-running saga regards a non-working street light in Patterdale is finally drawing to a close as confirmation has been given for a new replacement column to be installed.

Normally a standard-issue – the junction was in a difficult location and impossible to access.  Initially reported pre-covid – it finally has the attention that local residents want; Replacement!

The old column, unfortunately, had sustained damage meaning contractors could not fix the fault.

Due to workload and Covid, last week, teams have managed to get to Rugby and mark out a new location for the column and complete the safety checks before work starts.

The column initially had been planned to be installed this week (7/2/22).

Unfortunately, Covid hit the operatives again – but the installers are hoping the column may be installed late this week or latest end of next week.

Once installed the column will need to connected by Eon for which they have 4 weeks to complete. Again this will depend on the availability of crews to carry out the connection.

“It’s a relief to be having this light fixed.  We’ve known about it for a very long time due to complaint by residents and have reported it often, but thankfully it is now much closer to being resolved” says Ram Srivastava.
