Just found out via our disability officer: 13 months wait for neuro-diversity assessments in Rugby. Diagnostics for Autism, dyspraxia et al. Delays like this affect outcomes.  It plays havoc with parents, teachers and children’s educational outcomes.

From a ‘working professional educationalist’:
“The waiting lists for assessments have been like this for a while. CAMHs support is incredibly difficult to obtain, leaving extremely vulnerable families no support for complex mental health issues in young children.

* Support for children who are excluded from school is a concern.
* There are no longer any pupil referral units.
* Children will often get one or two hours of tuition per week.
* Cuts to secondary school budgets, mean secondary schools are not able to support children with ASD or learning difficulties.

It is letting down a generation of young people and creating problems for society in the coming years.”
