Rugby Labour asks you to make your vote count - make it 3 for PCC, County and Borough on May 6th

The coming year will bring an unprecedented series of challenges for Rugby and the wider borough as we recover from the effects of Covid-19.

The upcoming elections in May provide an opportunity to vote for what that recovery will look like. It’s a great chance to
elect Labour Councillors who put community, public services and the safety of our residents at the heart of everything we do. We have been failed by Tory Governments, and the Tory-run Council here in Rugby who have lacked holistic vision.

Labour will provide a connected approach…

We’ll TACKLE THE CLIMATE EMERGENCY.
Prioritise becoming carbon neutral by 2030 by prioritising home energy efficiency, saving residents money, CO2 emissions while promoting healthy and green transport options like walking and cycling.

REBUILD OUR TOWN CENTRE.
We are tired of seeing the decline of our town centre. The Tories have missed opportunity to rebuild the town centre – the pinnical investment being a McDonalds opposite the Town Hall. Labour will work with small, independent local businesses to reduce the number of empty shops and help our high street thrive.

MAKE COUNCIL SERVICES MORE ACCESSIBLE
Build an accessible town centre hub where all council and voluntary
services are in one place. Labour will work to reverse over 10 years of cuts to public services and tackle the resulting health inequality that the Tories have presided over. We would use council income to reinvest in our local communities with initiatives that would address anti-social behavior, tackle drug abuse, improve the well-being of our local community and support the frail and elderly to live
independently.

CONNECT OUR COMMUNITIES
Work with partners to invest in bus services to connect remote outskirts of Rugby with the town centre, train station
and Junction One.

BUILD THE HOUSES THAT PEOPLE NEED
Invest in energy-efficient social housing to tackle the
housing crisis and homelessness. We would invest money to
buy local properties to increase our housing stock and provide affordable social housing to rent for local people. This would
mean more housing for those who need it, and make investment in the local area

TAKE REAL ACTION ON CRIME AND SUPPORT VICTIMS
We will stand with victims, target criminals and support young people away from crime working with the Police Crime Commission er to put officers back on the streets and work to create youth and community groups.

If this sounds reasonable to you – then vote for change at Council – Vote Labour on May 6th
